Ostro Organics Oil Mill
Ostro Organics Oils are pressed fresh, in small batches in Victoria B.C.
The origin of the various crops are subject to change, due to harvest short falls, cost of shipping and world demand. Especially with nuts coming from overseas, special focus on unpasteurized nuts, the country of origin changes frequently.
- The raw oil is being pressed in small batches.
- After pressing the oil sludge settles to the bottom of the oil barrel.
- The fresh oil is then carefully being decanted and bottled.
- Followed by capping and proper labeling.
At Ostro Organics we use a modern low-pressure screw press to extract the oil from the nuts and seeds. Focusing on low pressure and low heat extraction. Higher heat means higher yield but also more alteration when it comes to its molecular structure. At Ostro Organics, we press every oil at a different heat point. Ranging from 9° to 29° degrees Celsius.
Ostro Organics presses oils under very low pressure and minimal temperatures. Currently ranging between 9° and 29° Celsius. Resulting in low yield oil extraction, obtaining a yield of roughly 55% depending on the variety of nut and seed.
Higher yields can be easily reached by applying industry standards including more pressure, heat, solvents and adding other agents to the extraction process.
When consuming Ostro Organics walnut oil in this pure, fresh, natural and real form, you will NOT be consuming hydrogenated fats or trans fatty acids.
Refrigerate after receiving and opening.
When storing outside the fridge, keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources!
Sesame oil is an emollient, meaning it can help to soften your skin and make the strands of your hair look smoother. Those same fatty acids in sesame oil that make it good with foods, also make it good for topically combating dry hair and scalp.
Sesame oil contains the same kinds of healthy fatty acids that are added to shampoos, skin creams, and makeup. These include:
- palmitic acid
- linoleic acid
- linolenic acid
- oleic acid
- stearic acid
Sesame Oil Scalp Health
The fatty acids in sesame oil help it to get deep into the skin. Inflammation and irritation on the scalp and around the hair roots can cause hair to fall out or thin in patches. Fatty acids help to soothe and heal the scalp and roots. Sesame oil may improve small, bald patches, or areas of thinning hair.
Sesame oil may also help carry other nutrients into the skin. A 2010 study found that sesame oil helped to carry ozone (oxygen) into the skin. If it has a similar effect with people, this may help speed up healing in cuts or scratches on the skin.
Like any kind of oil, sesame oil can also block pores. This can irritate your scalp and skin. Clogged pores can also cause hair follicles to fall out. Avoid this by leaving pure sesame oil on your scalp and hair for only a short period of time.
Also ensure that all sesame oil is washed out from your scalp and hair. Use shampoo and warm water after a sesame oil hair treatment. Also massage your scalp gently in the shower to ensure it is cleansed of all oil.
Warming sesame oil slightly might make it more comfortable to apply. Make sure the oil is raw and not heated too much. Test the temperature with a tiny drop on the inside of your wrist before applying. Hot oil can cause scalp burns and damage your hair.
